Original
Penny for Pinellas
(1990-2000)
The
Original Penny for Pinellas (1990-2000) was approved
by the voters via referendum on November 7, 1989.
Prior to the adoption of the Penny for Pinellas,
the property tax levy was the primary funding
source for the Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
The Penny for Pinellas provided property tax relief,
since the Penny replaced property tax as the primary
capital funding source. The Penny contributed
75% of the total revenue mix supporting the CIP.
The original Penny for Pinellas expired on January
31, 2000.
