Westwinds Drive Bridge Replacement
Project ID# 000700A
Westwinds Drive Bridge over Westwinds Canal, Palm Harbor
Westwinds Drive Bridge, located over the Westwinds Canal in Palm Harbor, is being replaced as part of the County’s Capital Improvement Program. The project also includes sidewalk connectivity in the vicinity of the bridge replacement. The existing bridge has substandard shoulder widths and barriers not meeting current structural design criteria. The proposed bridge will meet current design criteria and provide wider shoulders and raised sidewalks on both sides allowing for a safer pedestrian facility.
The project area includes roadway improvements along Westwinds Drive from Cardinal Trail to Crosswinds Drive and sidewalk connectivity along Westwinds Drive, Blue Jay Circle and Innisfil Street. Westwinds Drive will be closed to thru traffic between Cardinal Trail and Crosswinds Drive to facilitate bridge demolition and bridge construction. Access to driveways within these limits will be maintained at all times.
- Design Start: December 2014
- Design End: April 2017
- Construction Start: July 2020
This project is funded by the Penny for Pinellas, the county's local infrastructure sales tax.
