Baypointe Stormwater Acquisition/Park
This website has been created to keep the community informed about this project and to provide an opportunity for input.
Pinellas County purchased approximately 40 acres of land previously known as the Baypointe Golf Course. The $1.2 million site will allow the County to provide enhanced stormwater services that improve water quality and storage capacity for neighborhoods (and possibly commercial sites) constructed prior to stormwater regulations. This will also provide a new local park for the community. The project limit is the former Baypointe Golf Course. Additional drainage east of the property may be added to the project if additional study determines it is practicable.
Water quality estimates were provided prior to the purchase to determine the usefulness of the site. Further detail and study are needed for eligibility of other funding sources for the project. The County will be developing the stormwater conceptual plans with a consultant. A conceptual plan containing the stormwater improvements with possible park elements will be shared with the community prior to construction plans. Please reference the Project Status page for more information.
While the future improvements are in further development, the County is cleaning up the property.
