22nd Avenue S. Sidewalk Improvements
Project ID# 000087A
Project Location
22nd Avenue S., from 51st Street S. to 34th Street S.,
Gulfport and St. Petersburg
Project Overview
Pinellas County Public Works, through the county's Capital Improvement Program, is making sidewalk improvements on 22nd Avenue S., from 51st Street S. to 34th Street S. connecting Gulfport and St. Petersburg. The project consists of the design and construction of ADA-compliant sidewalks to complete the sidewalk network on both sides of the roadway. The new sidewalk will be five feet wide on the south side and eight feet wide on the north side of 22nd Avenue S. Easements will be necessary for the construction of some segments of the new sidewalk due to limited right-of-way. Additionally, driveway and drainage modifications will be made as required. During the time of design and construction, the 22nd Avenue S. corridor is being studied from a "complete streets" perspective to further enhance pedestrian and bicyclist safety and increase connectivity throughout the community. The sidewalk portion is considered "Phase One" and future improvements to the corridor will be forthcoming based on the recommendation of the Complete Streets analysis.
