Pinellas County Public Works is implementing a programmed Capital Improvement Project (CIP) to resurface, restore and rehabilitate (RRR) aging roadways throughout the county. The project also includes areas of sidewalk and drainage improvements. Roadways will be milled and resurfaced in order to improve travel for vehicles as well as ensuring infrastructure is maintained to acceptable conditions. Proposed sidewalk improvements will entail replacing broken or severely damaged portions to ensure ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance. There will be corrugated metal pipe (CMP) replacement to provide adequate drainage where older infrastructure is failing. The areas of drainage improvements will include replacing old CMP with new concrete pipe to ensure adequate flow of stormwater.
The design phase of the project is presently underway and the project is funded for construction in Spring 2020. Existing traffic patterns will be maintained during construction to the maximum extent possible. Some nighttime construction is anticipated.
Citizens can share comments and ask questions throughout the duration of the project by contacting the county’s project manager.
