Old Coachman Road over Alligator Creek Bridge Replacement
Project ID# 001034A
Old Coachman Road, between Drew Street and NE Coachman Road, Clearwater
Pinellas County Public Works is replacing the bridge (No 154252.) over Alligator Creek along Old Coachman Road (CR 535) in Clearwater. The replacement will involve the reconstruction of the approaches to the bridge and the removal of a concrete box culvert at the bridge’s north end.
The existing bridge has been in place for 93 years, and has exceeded its service life by almost half a century. The new concrete structure will be designed for a 75-year service life and to withstand flooding under a 50-year storm event. The new bridge and approaches will have wider 11-foot lanes along with up-to-date safety features to improve the roadway for motorists.
The segment of roadway where the bridge is located provides access between Drew Street and NE Coachman Road (SR 590), and includes a parking lot entrance that serves Spectrum Baseball Field. Project construction requires the closure of these roadways, detour signage is posted to help motorists navigate an alternate route.
