Public Works CIP Project Update
Project Update February 2020
Whitney Road at Wolford Road Intersection Improvements
Project ID# 002109A
Whitney Road at Wolford Road, Clearwater
Pinellas County Public Works, through the County’s Capital Improvement Program, is making enhancements to the intersection of Whitney Road and Wolford Road in Clearwater. The project design will improve pedestrian, bicyclist and motorist safety as well as support the efficient flow of motorists.
The limits of the project along Whitney Road are from Sapphire Lane to Hidden Springs Place. The project will realign the curves at the intersection into a safer “T” type intersection. Additional work includes regrading and realigning Long Branch Creek with the addition of a new box culvert, enclosing the ditch on the south side of the roadway, dedicated right turn lanes from and to Wolford Road, and sidewalk improvements to provide better access to PSTA transit stops.
Project preparation included data collection, field surveys, roadway and box culvert design and utility coordination. A Neighborhood Project Information Meeting was held in May 2017 to provide citizens with project details and answer questions.
