Amateur Ham Radio Operators Needed For Emergencies
Ham Radio OperatorPinellas County Emergency Management is recruiting volunteer ham radio operators to act as emergency communications operators at shelters and other designated locations during hurricanes or other emergencies. More than 60 operators are currently needed at shelters throughout the county, as well as additional operators at other potential locations. Volunteer emergency communications operators will receive free training. To register, call Doug Williams at (727) 725-3345. With hurricane season still ongoing and the H1N1 virus prevalent in the community, it's important to consider sheltering somewhere other than a public shelter.
