Learn about the organization, missions, responsibilities and services provided by your County Animal Services Department. Ambulance Demonstration - Public Safety Services - We'll come to your location and put a Sunstar ambulance on display, explain its equipment and acquaint audiences with its day-to-day operation. Recommended audience: Elementary School – Adults
Avoiding Dog Bites - Animal Services - This is a 90-minute dual presentation. The presentation begins with a videotape by the American Veterinary Medical Association relative to dog bite prevention. Recommended audience: All ages
Becoming Storm Savvy – Communications - While we are still in the hurricane preseason now is an excellent time to learn how you can prepare yourself to prevent panic if we are affected by a storm. From learning how to put together a survival kit without busting your budget to planning ahead for evacuations, tips are offered for everyone. Recommended audience: All ages
Bite Prevention - Animal Services - This is an easily understood presentation of eleven specific points that can reduce dog bite numbers if followed. Additionally, dog bite statistics are presented so that attendees can understand the gravity of the problem on a nationwide basis. Recommended audience: All ages
Busting Hurricane Myths – Communications - Learn the dangers of some commonly held beliefs when hurricanes approach. Not only will you hear the truth, you may also learn some live-saving techniques should our area get hit by a big storm. Recommended audience: All ages
Canine Communication - Animal Services - This civilian-friendly presentation covers various aspects of canine body language and facial expressions. Our hope is that if attendees assimilate some of the information presented, it may help reduce the number of dog attacks/bites or less than favorable encounters with dogs. Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail –Parks and Recreation/Planning – The Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail is a unique 34-mile linear county park. Park rangers who patrol the Trail are available for presentations. Topics range from bicycle safety, Pinellas Trail history, safety and security, and Trail construction updates. Recommended audience: All ages
Hazardous Materials Response - Public Safety Services – Paint processors, pool stores, seafood packing houses, circuit board manufacturers and other Pinellas County businesses all use vast quantities of hazardous materials. When accidents happen and dangerous chemicals spill, leak or otherwise get into the environment, the Pinellas County HAZMAT team is called into action. Heritage Village, Pinellas County's Historical Home - Heritage Village - Located in Largo, Heritage Village contains 27 historical structures and a museum on 21 beautiful acres. Explore the history of the Village, from its beginning as a museum in the basement of the Old County Courthouse, to the present, and get a glimpse of the future. Homelessness in Pinellas - Health and Human Services - You'll hear about the causes of homelessness, who the homeless are, and what the county and various nonprofit agencies are doing to address this largely invisible problem. Recommended Audience: High school and adults
Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program (HPRP) - Health and Human Services-Offers short-term financial help and services to persons who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless. Learn about this new program that is federally-funded thru the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Recommended Audience: High school and adults
Hurricane 101 - Communications - What is a hurricane? How do they form? What are their effects? Get the basics on these dangerous tropical storms. Recommended audience: All ages
Let's Talk Mosquitoes – Public Works - Learn what Pinellas County is doing to control our mosquito population and what you can do around your home to help. The program touches on the causes of too many mosquitoes, controlling mosquitoes, mosquito biology and mosquito-borne illnesses. Recommended audience: Elementary School – Adults
Mobile Medical Unit – Health and Human Services – The Mobile Medical Van provides outreach medical care to homeless persons living in Pinellas County. Learn about how these services are provided and how this service benefits our community. Recommended Audience: Presentation can be tailored for all ages: elementary, middle, high school and adults.
No Such Place as Away – Utilities/Solid Waste – Ever wonder what happens to your garbage when you throw it away? This presentation covers Pinellas County’s integrated solid waste management system; including waste-to-energy, sanitary landfills, recycling programs, and the household electronics and chemical collection center (HEC3). Audiences are encouraged to take responsibility by reducing, reusing, and recycling their wastes and “closing the loop” by shopping for items made with post-consumer recycled content. The Florida Botanical Gardens is a public garden and part of the Pinewood Cultural Park, also home to Pinellas County Extension and Heritage Village.
Pinellas County Extension, as a part of the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, exists to provide research-based knowledge and educational programs enabling people to make informed decisions to improve their quality of life.
NOTE: Programs are designed for one-hour at a cost of $50.00 per program.

Reclaimed Water - Utilities/Reclaimed Water - What do the terms “reclaimed water” and “effluent” really mean? Hear how the future of Pinellas County's water supply rests with reclaimed water and how neighborhoods remain green with this new resource. Social Action Funding Program - Health and Human Services - The Department of Health and Human Services distributes funds, through a grant application process, to not-for-profit community social service agencies that address a variety of local needs.
