Buying a Home: Target Areas

There are advantages to buying a home in a target area. The Housing Finance Authority (HFA) typically offers home buying assistance to first-time home buyers and veterans. However, eligibility requirements are relaxed for buyers who purchase homes in target areas. The goal of the target area program is to promote economic diversity in the neighborhoods that need it most.

It is easier to qualify for HFA assistance if you purchase a home in a target area.

  • You do not need to be a first-time home buyer.
  • Income limits are higher for buyers.
  • Buyers can purchase homes that are priced higher.
